Sutton COA eyes second van for medical trips

Council on Aging · Meeting of May 19, 2026

Sutton Council on Aging floats a second van as medical transport requests collide. At its May 19 meeting, the center's director, two months into the job, reported the operating budget at 51.9 percent spent and the food pantry serving roughly 49 families and 50 individuals. Outreach staffer Tim said volunteers can't use personal vehicles for rides, prompting a proposal for "having a second vehicle on hand here for the times where we're real busy and have two appointments at the same time." The board remembered longtime volunteer Harriet Van Dyke, who died this month and "knew everybody and everybody knew her," and shelved a stalled Eagle Scout walking-path project that didn't meet badge criteria, instead pointing to a future town sidewalk and parking-lot capital plan.

Two therapy pigs, Gilbert and Sprinkles, are booked to visit before summer.
