Select Board rejects 40R Smart Growth bylaw without formal motion.

Select Board · Meeting of May 19, 2026

SUTTON — Select Board holds 40R Smart Growth hearing, rejects bylaw referral without formal vote. Chair Jesse Limanek and Select persons James Ettamarna and Christine Watkins, all with housing committee experience, cited traffic projections of 2,200 daily trips, PFAS water contamination concerns, and insufficient financial modeling as reasons to withhold endorsement of the 300-unit Galaxy Pass mixed-use development. Vice Chair Jonathan Anderson requested multiple phased scenarios rather than a single large project.

In routine business, the board unanimously elevated Erica McCollum to a Planning Board seat vacated by Scott Paul after 31 years, and appointed David Mason as Planning Board associate member. Two utility pole hearings for NGrid and Verizon on Duval Road and Barnett Road each passed unanimously.
