Sutton elder board approves $6 flat meal rate

Council on Aging · Meeting of March 17, 2026

Sutton's Council on Aging says it still has no word from town hall on hiring a permanent Senior Center director, months after outreach coordinator Tim took over as acting director. The board approved minutes from its January 20 meeting and heard the center's Wednesday and Friday meal program will shift to a flat $6 per meal starting in April, up from a variable rate, to keep pace with the cost of scratch-cooked meals. Food pantry donations have slipped since the holidays, and the Riders of Sutton are running a food drive at Market 32 on March 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to restock shelves.

One board member, pressing for more town attention to the center, said simply, "I believe in the squeaky wheel theory." A town official identified only as Austin is due at the center March 24 to take questions from the board.
