Sutton COA approves minutes, plans caregiver group
Council on Aging · Meeting of June 16, 2026
Sutton Council on Aging plans a new caregiver support group as the senior center eyes future space needs. The board approved its May minutes unanimously and heard from Director Janine that free exercise classes, Friday Bingo changes and Friends of Sutton Elders-funded entertainment have drawn strong turnout. A first-year treasurer reported the center has spent 51.9 percent of its fiscal-year budget, attributing the gap to staffing vacancies, and said an air conditioning repair quote from vendor NPC has been accepted.
Members noted "the over 60 group in Sutton is the largest growth area in the whole community" and said informal talks about expanding the 30-year-old building have begun with a town official identified only as Austin. Outreach worker Tim reported a Saturday memorial reception for longtime participant Harriet Van Dyke and plans for a July "touch-a-truck" cookout with the police, fire and highway departments.
