Sutton COA votes to press town on open jobs
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Sutton's Council on Aging presses the town to speed hiring as three staffers cover the gaps. Director Janine Williams told the board the Senior Center ended last fiscal year with about $33,000 left over, largely because the director's post and two other jobs sat vacant for months. With a cook position and a transport-driver job still unfilled, outreach worker Tim said, "We want it to be good.
We want it to be great, but we don't want to be the ones solely responsible for that." The board agreed to send the Select Board a letter urging faster postings, after members learned the town's one-person HR office has been consumed hiring roughly 31 new school staff. Separately, the board confirmed Ann Morris's nomination to fill a seat vacated by Gail Graves and began reviewing a 43-page state guidance document recommending ten-member Council on Aging boards.
