Select Board approves year-end transfers and licenses; debates parking and tree removal at Town Common.
Select Board · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Sutton Select Board approves year-end transfers and business licenses. The board unanimously approved $149,745 in FY2026 year-end transfers to cover police overtime driven by three injured officers and one deployed officer, town counsel overspending on a 40B zoning matter, and a gap in animal inspector funding. Two business licenses were unanimously approved: twenty one-day beer and wine licenses for District V House, and a Common Victualler license for Sutton Creamery at Tony's with John Sfakianakis as manager.
The board spent the bulk of the meeting debating parking and maintenance at the Town Common and Town Hall, with an arborist assessment identifying five hazardous trees for removal, undersized parking spaces, noncompliant crosswalks, and a bandstand budgeted at $30,000 for repairs; Town Manager Austin Cyganiewicz requested formal direction before proceeding with costs and design.
