Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026

SUTTON — Select Board authorizes $500,000 HVAC design funding for elementary school heating crisis. Chairperson Jonathan Anderson, Vice Chair James Ettamarna, and Select members Christine Watkins, Jesse Limanek, and Daniel Spengler voted unanimously to fund an Owner's Project Manager and engineering services, with Superintendent Caitlyn Paget reporting that classrooms in the ELC fell into the 50s Fahrenheit during two consecutive winters, violating state temperature mandates for special education students. Town Manager Austin Cyganiewicz estimates the full HVAC replacement project at approximately $3.5 million, with the district having spent close to $1 million on repairs since FY2022 and facing an estimated $3 million in maintenance costs over the next 15 years.

The board raised questions about building asset prioritization across the municipality before committing to the full project scope.
