Select Board declines to exercise town's right of first refusal on Mendon Road property

Select Board · Meeting of February 17, 2026

Sutton Select Board rejects right of first refusal on Mendon Road property. The board voted unanimously not to exercise the town's option under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 61A to purchase the 8.20-acre parcel owned by Patrick and Erin Lundgren after Town Manager Austin Cyganiewicz reported no municipal department identified a use for the land. In separate business, the board appointed Walter Baker to full membership on the Historical Commission and Lyman Rosebrooks to the Cemetery Commission with terms expiring June 30, 2026, and June 30, 2028, respectively.

Cyganiewicz presented the preliminary FY27 budget of $44,684,447, a 2.01 percent increase featuring an 11 percent health insurance cost increase and a 10.47 percent pension assessment increase against $10.2 million in reserve funding.
