Select Board approves shared conservation agent with Douglas; defers budget override decision.
Select Board · Meeting of March 3, 2026
SUTTON — Select Board defers tax override decision, approves shared conservation agent with Douglas. Chair Jesse Limanek and the five-member board unanimously backed an intermunicipal agreement under which the Town of Douglas will employ a Conservation Agent at a cost to Sutton of between $78,000 and $85,000 annually. Town Manager Austin Cyganiewicz clarified that certified free cash totals $1.3 million after fall town meeting appropriations, not $4 million as residents have stated.
Four residents urged the board to deploy reserves to prevent teacher and program cuts in schools, but the board voted unanimously to table any override decision pending completion of strategic plans for the Fire Department, roads, and public facilities.
