Board of Assessors maintains second-home tax policy through fiscal 2030.
Board of Assessors · Meeting of August 11, 2026
SUTTON — Board of Assessors maintains second-home tax policy for four years. The board unanimously voted to continue the 4 percent replacement cost new valuation method for second homes through the next audit in fiscal year 2030, finding no local option for elimination under Massachusetts law. Principal Assessor Tracey Tardy coordinated with Wilkinsonville Water District Clerk Shelley Gorman to schedule a meeting for the district to review its budget before setting its tax rate.
The board also approved Motor Vehicle Commitment 26-04 and discussed but deferred a potential increase to the exemption limit from $3,000 to $5,000, which would require Town Meeting approval.
