Board of Assessors opposes Boston-backed tax-relief bill.
Board of Assessors · Meeting of August 4, 2026
Sutton Board of Assessors votes unanimously to oppose a state bill extending tax abatement filing deadlines. Chairman Robert Nunnemacher and Principal Assessor Tracey Tardy directed staff to lobby the Senate and House against the Boston-backed measure, which would push the deadline from thirty to forty-five days after tax due date and delay the town's rate-setting process. The Board also approved seeking state permission to abate six years of taxes (FY20-FY26) on three Partridge Hill Road properties that should have been classified as exempt, and rejected a state-provided list of 193 small business exemptions, determining that classifying 143 would cost the town most of its personal property tax revenue.
